How are you feeling?

🫶 Quick check-in

How am I feeling right now, in one word?

Tip: one honest line is plenty. Set a two-minute timer and stop when it rings.

How to start journaling (without overthinking it)

  1. Keep it tiny. One prompt, one honest line. You can always write more.
  2. Pick a moment. Morning coffee, the bus home or right before bed. Tie it to something you already do.
  3. Write for you. No one is grading it. Messy, misspelled and half-finished is fine.
  4. Notice patterns. Every so often, read back a week. What helped? What kept coming up?

For more on this, read our guide to journaling prompts for mental health, or try a quick mood check-in first.

Questions people ask

How do I use a journal prompt?

Read the prompt, then write whatever comes up, even if it’s one line. There are no right answers. If a prompt doesn’t land, shuffle for another.

How long should I journal for?

Two to five minutes is plenty for most days. Short and regular tends to be easier to keep up than long and occasional.

Is journaling good for mental health?

Many people find that writing things down makes swirling thoughts feel more manageable and helps them notice patterns in their mood. It isn’t a replacement for professional support if you’re struggling.

Are my answers saved?

No. The generator only shows prompts; write your answers in a notebook, your notes app or the Otti journal.
