Otti vs Bearable: a symptom tracker and a self-care pet, compared
Bearable helps you work out what affects how you feel, by tracking mood and symptoms alongside sleep, food, medication and more. Otti is a different kind of app: a self-care pet with a simple mood journal. They do quite different jobs, so here’s who each one suits.

Choose Bearable if…
- You want to track symptoms, pain, energy, sleep, medication or your cycle, not just mood.
- You want to find out what affects how you feel, with correlation reports.
- You’d like data from Apple Health, Health Connect or Fitbit pulled in.
- You want reports or exports to bring to a doctor or therapist.
Choose Otti if…
- You want a gentle companion to care for, not a detailed tracker.
- Lots of tracking feels like work, and a quick five-mood check-in with a note is enough.
- You like tiny, ready-made self-care steps and a story that grows with you.
- You’d rather not make an account to get started.
- You’d like a small circle of friends whose otters hold paws.

What Bearable does well
Bearable, made by Bearable Ltd in England, is a customisable health and mood tracker. You can track mood, symptoms, pain, energy, sleep, your cycle and medication, and Bearable looks for links between your symptoms and things like sleep, food, weather, medication and habits. It syncs with Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit, and reviewers find its reports useful for doctor visits. It suits people who want to understand their symptoms and triggers in detail. Bearable Ltd also makes Foxtale, a separate mood journal with a fox self-care pet.
- Correlations that can reveal triggers: Bearable looks for links between your symptoms and sleep, food, weather, medication and habits.
- Very customisable tracking of mood, symptoms, pain, energy, sleep, your cycle and medication.
- Health syncing that Otti doesn’t have, with Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit.
- Useful for appointments: you can export your data or share reports with a doctor or therapist.
- A generous free version with unlimited tracking, 30-day trend reports, a calendar, widgets and CSV export.
- Not pushy. We found no streaks in its official descriptions, reminders are optional, and you can fill in missed days later.
- Well rated: 4.8 stars from about 6,500 ratings on the US App Store, and 4.6 stars with 500K+ downloads on Google Play.
How Otti is different
- Otti is a pet first. You hatch one of six 3D otters (curious, silly, brave, gentle, cozy or dreamy) and care for it tamagotchi-style: feeding, naps, bubble baths and play. Its face shows how it feels, and it never gets sick or dies.
- Self-care comes in tiny steps picked from a list of 16, like drinking water, eating something nourishing or getting out of bed. After three steps in a day, a clam opens with a little treasure.
- A story it grows up in: care days move your otter from pup to grown-up and down the river through six chapters, with an evening story to unlock on days you take care of yourself.
- A calm corner: float down the river with your otter doing 4-6 breathing for 1, 3 or 5 minutes.
- Otti’s mood journal is much simpler: five moods and a note each day, and a week view. There’s no symptom tracking, health syncing, correlations, charts beyond the week view or export.
- No account needed to start. Your journal stays on your phone, and the optional Raft of friends uses an anonymous account.
- An optional Raft of friends whose otters hold paws, with cheers and small gifts. Bearable has no friends feature.
- Otti is not a medical service and isn’t built for tracking symptoms. If that’s what you need, Bearable is the better tool.
Pricing
Bearable’s free version includes unlimited tracking, 30-day trend reports, a calendar, widgets and CSV export. Premium costs $34.99 a year or $6.99 a month in the US, and the annual plan is frequently discounted to $18.99. It adds correlation reports, longer date ranges and unlimited goals. There’s a free trial (we couldn’t confirm how long it lasts), no lifetime plan and no in-app currency.
Otti is in beta and free to try. Pebbles, the currency for outfits and treats, are only earned through self-care and can’t be bought. We’ll share full pricing before launch.
Missing a day
Bearable is relaxed about this. There’s no pet, we found no streaks in its official descriptions or FAQs, and reminders are optional. Its “Mark day complete” option only flags days so your insights are accurate, and you can fill in missed days later.
In Otti, your otter can get hungry, sleepy or a bit messy if you’ve been away, but it never gets sick, never dies and is always happy to see you. Its growth and story progress never reset. There is a simple day count, but nothing is taken away when it restarts.

Questions people ask
Is Bearable free?
Yes. The free version includes unlimited tracking, 30-day trend reports, a calendar, widgets and CSV export. Premium is $34.99 a year or $6.99 a month in the US, with the annual plan often discounted to $18.99 (checked October 2026), and adds correlation reports, longer date ranges and unlimited goals.
Is Otti a Bearable alternative?
Only if what you want is a gentle daily habit and a simple mood check-in. Otti doesn’t track symptoms, sync health data or find correlations, and it’s not a medical service. If you need those things, Bearable is the better choice.
Does Bearable need an account?
Yes, Bearable requires an account. Otti doesn’t need one to start, and its journal stays on your phone.
Bearable vs Daylio: what’s the difference?
Daylio is a fast mood diary with stats, and it doesn’t use an account. Bearable goes deeper into health, tracking symptoms, pain, sleep, medication and more and looking for correlations, and it needs an account. Otti is different again: a self-care pet with a simple mood journal.
Can I use Otti and Bearable together?
Of course. Some people may like Bearable for tracking their health and Otti for gentle daily self-care. If two apps start to feel like a chore, pick the one you look forward to opening.
